Tour extension funding from the Convention and Visitors Bureau

Lost River Cave will receive $25,000 from the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, to fund the final installation processes of the new dam and pay for a new lighting system inside of the cave.

The new dam in the cave aids in the effort to ensure that tours can still run after periods of heavy rain. At times, the cave has lost more than 100 days to high water in the cave system. This large amount of unusable days has limited the amount of projects that Lost River has been able to undertake. Organization officials are hopeful that the number of “flooded days” will be greatly minimized.

The extended length of the tour will allow for an added boat and newly mapped out tours.

The new tour configuration will reduce wait time for visitors and give them more time inside of the cave.

The extended boat tour will be open in Spring 2010 as part of the celebration from the 20th anniversary of the Friends of the Lost River, Inc.
